'BRIGHT MOON IN THE HIGHLANDS' BRINGS MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL TO 200 DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

Continuing the success of the past three years, the “Bright Moon in the Highlands 2022” program delivered a warm Mid-Autumn Festival to 200 disadvantaged children in Gia Lai province on September 10.

From villages across Trang Commune, Dak Doa District (Gia Lai Province), more than 200 ethnic minority children gathered excitedly for the “Bright Moon in the Highlands 2022” Mid-Autumn event organized by SHIN Coffee, with the companionship of Red Communications and supporting partners. The event is part of the annual “Warm Clothes for Children” initiative launched in 2020.

The program opened with a lively lion–dragon dance performance, bringing excitement to the children. According to SHIN Coffee representatives, many children in Trang Commune still struggle with daily necessities, making mooncakes, lanterns, and lion dance distant luxuries. Therefore, the meaningful activities of “Bright Moon in the Highlands” not only brought joy but also gave them a complete Mid-Autumn celebration like other children their age.

One of the most engaging activities was the “Warm Clothes Market,” where children and parents could freely choose clothing suited to their needs ahead of the cold season.

In addition to the lion–dragon dance and fair-style activities, the children enjoyed traditional games such as balloon catching, blindfolded can smashing and ring toss. After their initial shyness, many joined the fun enthusiastically, bringing home lanterns and treats.

The program also awarded 200 scholarships (worth 500,000 VND each), sponsored by Red Communications, to encourage the children’s schooling and spark motivation for their dreams.

Trang Commune is a remote, extremely disadvantaged mountainous area of Gia Lai. Many ethnic minority children live in poverty and often accompany their families to farm for a living. Mr. Long, a representative of SHIN Coffee, shared: “From our first days in raw material regions like Trang Commune, we could never forget the children’s smiles and bright eyes, even as their bare feet trembled from the cold. With three years of maintaining ‘Bright Moon in the Highlands’ we hope to ease some of their hardship. With our partners and benefactors, each trip is filled with compassion, making school journeys less distant and allowing these beautiful stories to continue”.

Early in the morning, SHIN Coffee and Red Communications volunteers prepared gift sets including notebooks, school supplies, mooncakes, and lanterns for the children to enjoy the Mid-Autumn celebration.

Mr. Phan Trieu Luan (Red Communications) shared: “Warm clothing and scholarships carry love and connection from the community, helping the children stay strong on their path to education. We believe that the journeys to these remote villages will bring their dreams closer”.

The “Bright Moon in the Highlands 2022” event concluded with the joyful smiles of Trang Commune children, along with meaningful Mid-Autumn gifts that lit a ray of hope across this remote mountainous region.
